One of the ugliest displays of human behaviour takes place when someone is about to die. Suddenly members of the family that has never been around most of her life, never mind in times of trouble, start creeping out of the woodwork. Sisters, absent from her life for more than thirty years now suddenly care.
They start bad mouthing us, they accused us of neglecting her because she was not getting better. They don’t even know the first thing about Amyptrophic Lateral Sclerosis or they’d know that there is no cure. This disease takes its course and totally annihilates every single muscle in a person’s body until it finally stops the lung and heart muscles from functioning.
Sadly, when my MIL was at the lowest point in her life they targeted her feeding her mind with lies and hatred. They actually made the last days of their sister’s life a living hell. Those so called Aunts have caused a huge rift that has torn that side of the family apart for life, and the wounds that they inflicted will never heal.
What I would like to know is this, was it really worth it? My mother always told me that a person should love people and use things, not love things and use people! PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THINGS!
Let me tell you, it is not as if these people are poor or needy. They are actually very well to do folk. Wealthy enough to have flown from the Cape to Gauteng to visit their sister at least once during her illness, rich enough to have purchased an airline ticket so that they could attend her funeral service and pay her their last respects! No, their respect for her was based on greed, because they were conspicuous in their absence! This proves to me exactly what I suspected all along, they did not give a shit about her, and they were after what she could leave them in her will!
I quote Kahlil Gibran, “is not the dread of thirst when your well is full, thirst that is unquenchable?”
I wash my hands of those people who imagine their own self-righteous thoughts to be the truth! They are false-hearted and prejudiced. They feigned love for their own gain and their arrogance gives them a false sense of importance!
Fools! Your own inner judge condemns you and your greed will be your downfall!
The greatest courage is to do what has to be done, and although you are being judged, to be proud to be who you really are!
When Hubby and I lay down to sleep at night our hearts are at peace because we know that we both did the best we could with what we had! It was just the two of us against the world, and we won!
“Aunts, go find yourselves some enlightenment! Enlightenment comes when your third eye is level with your turd eye and you can look into your own anuses and see all the shit you talk!”
