Everything is moving at lightening speed but life is standing still and we are living ‘in the meantime.’ This mutilating disease is wreaking havoc on us all, especially on my poor mother-in-law who simply sits and waits.
What must a person do to overcome this feeling of total helplessness? How can one feel this incredible sadness and pity yet have to hide your feelings behind a smile and a joke? How does one cope daily with the anxiety without actually cracking or running away from home?
I can’t explain it I want to go out, but at the same time I never want to leave the house because I fret about Moeks being with someone else. Will they care for her in the proper way; do they know what she likes to eat or how she has her tea? What if she needs the bathroom? All this things go through my mind as I make a U-turn home.
Once home I immediately become angry at my own foolishness, but you know, sometimes being free to do something means you choose not to it, so here I am!
Hubby and I both know that our relationship is under a lot of stress at the moment. We cope as best we can mostly by ignoring the others little (or huge) outbursts or just by laughing out loud when we actually want to break down and cry. I often feel that I have no “me” time and that I have let myself go. I need to rediscover my positive attitude to life and reduce my stress levels or else I’ll simply burn out and then what will become of us?
The wise old Nun Mother Theresa once declared “We cannot all do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
At this stage all we can do is take it one day at a time and hold each other a little closer, a little longer, for now, for tomorrow, forever.
