The day will come when my life must end, and when that happens I don’t want to be resuscitated and kept alive by machines. Don’t call it my “death bed” rather think of it as my “life truly lived” bed.
Give my heart to someone whose pump is packing in so that that person might live and hopefully live long enough to see his or her grandchildren playing in the yard.
Transplant my kidneys into those suffering from renal failure and is dependant upon a machine to survive.
The liver stores our sugar and vitamins, and also filters out the poisons from the bloodstream. What an important and vital organ! Please give it to someone who will not be able to live without it.
Give my cornea so that someone can receive the gift of sight to truly experience the beauty that surrounds us. That someone can watch the glory of a sunrise and experience the happy smile of a child, or look into the eyes of love.
Take my pancreas, my bone and my skin, take whatever is needed to make a crippled person walk, a diabetic healed. Burn what is left of me and scatter my ashes with memories of love and laughter.
Bury only my faults and my weaknesses. Give my sins to the devil and my soul to God.
If you wish to remember me, do it by showing kindness to someone who needs it. Be generous and patient with those that enervate you. Love animals as much as they love you. And share your laughter with the world.
If you do all that, I will live forever!
