I want to tell you something about grandchildren they are fantastic little human beings! I mean they don’t care whether I’m old or not and they don’t try to change me. They believe everything that I tell them and they treat me like I’m the most amazing person alive.
They make me lie on the grass to watch a shongalolo in the grass, or at night we lie on our backs looking up at the stars betting on who could count the most. We pull silly faces, wear silly clothes and sing silly songs. We even formed a band once but didn’t make it to the top! It doesn’t bug them if I dance in front of them they even join me. They have even made me go wild cave adventuring and absailing! They think I am a karate expert because I told them I am!
Grandchildren understand the need to feel young again, the need to play and dream, to walk in the rain barefoot and to rescue frogs. They understand the need to make donkey noises and tell funny ghost stories. The best part is that they don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t do all these things with them, and when I’m around them I can because I am invincible!
