The meanings of your names and what people call you are very, very special!
Your names, nick-names and surname have peculiar and distinct results in the spiritual realm. Everything in the natural has a result in the spirit...'
I always say: “What you confess, you pocess!” What people confess about you, whatever they call you, releases actions in the super-natural that affects everything in the physical world.
Your names are continually spoken, often with affection, with love, with joy or hate, maybe with jealousy or scorning, at work and in your household or general conversation among colleagues, friends, family and even strangers.
Your parents, or whoever gave you a name or names, did so with very specific reasons or your names are taken for granted by those who choose them and speak them. They were either driven by an impulse, a dream, a vision, a decision, an event, an inclination, specific research or as an indication of changing social fashions and addictions why you should have your names. Your conception or birth could have triggered the reasons why you have your names?
Your surname reflects your whole families’ inheritance and meaning in the physical and spiritual world.
The nick-names you are given by your family, friends and colleagues, reflects what they experience in the natural and spiritual realms of your character.
I would strongly recommend that you should find out the meanings for your names. How did you receive your names? Who gave you your names? Where were you born? What happened at your birth? Who where present at your birth?
Where is your origins, but most importantly, where are you going?
There are numerous books available at stores and libraries that you could research, even your family register or the internet has a vast amount of sites linked to family histories and the meanings of names.
Do your names' correlate and show forth the vision that God has for you? If not, change them to change your future! Direct your destiny to God! Become a leader, a father and a son.
Robby Williams gave himself the middle name of Maximillian, meaning the greatest, biggest and best! Thus he chooses to prophecy and become the greatest best selling living singer of all times! He chooses to change his destiny, and he directs his life towards success and prosperity! (You magazine article, 20 March, 2006)
Abram became Abraham after he met with God, he would be a father of many nations. (Gen. 17:5; Old King James)
Sarai's name was changed to Sarah by God, which means a mother of nations. (Gen. 17:15 & 16; Old King James)
Jacob became Israel after he struggled with God, for as prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. (Gen. 32:28; Old King James)
Saul became Paul when he got saved. Then Saul, who was also called Paul……..(Acts 13:9; NIV)
When you look at my own names; I have inherited my first name from my natural father: David. My second name, Hercules, I got from my grandfather, Hercules Visagie, because I was the first grandson born on both sides of my parents' families. And my surname, Pienaar, comes obviously from my father's family, which is a French name derived from the word pinard.
- David means God's beloved
- Hercules means joyful and strong man
- Pienaar means rich and young or the origin of a red wine
I have a close friend that calls me Davua, and I call him Wernua. I've had a strong revelation of our association with Jesus Christ, after Pastor Deon Roebert of the Ivory Coast preached at Dunamis in 1998. He preached that it's no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me. My cell-members and I were so touched by this message that we decided to change the names we call each other to reflect our unity with Christ! I even wrote a song about this:
Christ in me, sets me free
He is my liberty,
He is my strength and hope,
He is my ability,
I walk and talks just like Him,
I eat and drink just like Him,
I sleep and pray just like Him,
I follow Him in everything,
God's spirit is now on me,
to preach His gospel,
set the captives free,
it's no longer I that live,
but Christ that lives in me.
It's not my name that matters,
but Christ is seen in me.
I looked at all the different names of Jesus and tried to make combinations. In the Hebrew language another name for Jesus is Yeshua. I decided to combine our names with God's name Yeshua. The results were:
David + Yeshua = Davua;
Wernher + Yeshua = Wernhua
I called the other cell members in a similar fashion!
These names bonded us as cell-members together in unity and it also unified us together with Jesus Christ. When I phoned or talked to one of them and called them on these special names, they responded differently! They knew that I identified them with Christ and they responded knowing that we have a special relationship with each other and with God.
When I call on Pastor Hannes Steyn, I salute him saying: Pastor, my Pastor! This salutation is related to the movie Dead Poets Society, where the boys saluted their teacher, saying: Captain, my Captain! Pastor Hannes immediately knows who’s talking to him when I call out this salutation. He connects with me because this is my special way of showing him respect!
When I call on Pastor Bert Pretorius, I call him: my Centurion! This salutation refers to the leader in the bible that called on Jesus to just speak a word to heal his child. He was a Centurion, a military leader over many. Pastor Bert is the senior pastor of Centurion Christian Church and he is the leader of the G12 disciple drive in South Africa. I honor and respect Pastor Bert immensely and I call on him as my Centurion to be a leader in my life!
Another example of name changes is Pastor Jaco Zabbud de Swart; I quote out of his witness:" Then a name came to me, a name I have never heard before until that moment - ZABBUD - God said to me: “you wanted a name, this is my name for you. I have given you to serve, and called you to lead."
If you change your name in the natural it will have a result in the spiritual. But it is not the spiritual, which is first but the physical, and then the spiritual. (1Cor. 15:46; New King James)
I experience the change of a name as a covenant sign with God, which is the most powerful modern day way to bind you to God. It's like a marriage sign of your relationship with God, where you change your name like the brides' surname changes to show her becoming one with her groom. We are Jesus' bride, and once you accept Him as your Lord and Savior and you accept God the Father as your spiritual father, you can change your name in the natural to show the spiritual bond with God.
What about group-names: i.e. companies, sport-teams, etc. Some people would die for their sport-teams! They offer up all their spare time, follow them to where ever they go. Adorn themselves with the teams’ clothes, colors, emblems, etc. Why? Because they want to associate with their team! They want to show the world who is their heroes. They want every one to know they live, eat and drink support their team!
You pocess what you confess! If your name means loser or anything negative, anytime someone calls you by your name, they confess over your life the meaning of it and it results in that what is being spoken to become reality in the natural.
CHANGE YOUR NAME TO CHANGE YOUR DESTINY AND TESTIMONY!
